About

My career

I have worked in just about every trade that orbits software and the internet — DevOps, developer, architect, engineering manager, agile coach, product manager, product ops, product marketing. Rarely as a clean break: more as a gradual slide, one responsibility calling for the next, a curiosity pushing me to look at whatever was happening just outside my remit.

Always in software publishing — startups and large groups — with stakes that change in size but not in nature.

That path gives me a wide view of the product today: I understand what happens on the technical side, the go-to-market side, the organisational side. In my current company I am the only PM — which in practice means I try to cover as much of the whole as I can: product strategy, delivery, ops, and product marketing.

Other lives

Alongside my main work, I have had commitments that did a great deal to shape the way I work.

Research and development

About ten years ago I completed a professional thesis at the C.N.R.S. on "Port logistics optimisation based on multi-agent systems" — a distributed artificial intelligence subject that consisted of making autonomous agents cooperate to solve complex optimisation problems.

Trained as a mathematician, I long kept that skill in the background in a world ruled by empiricism and frameworks. As AI rises, it is taking a central place again.

The press

On the press side, I contributed to the Journal de la Sécurité, a general-interest outlet for the security professions where I published every month on information systems security, and to PDA France, an online outlet devoted to mobile computing. I carry on today with Proposition Marketing, an independent magazine devoted to strategic and operational marketing.

Publishing

I also worked as a technical reviewer for M2 Édition and Eyrolles — an exercise in rigour that teaches you to hunt down imprecision in writing about technology.

Safety and security

In parallel, I spent 8 years at the European Institute for Advanced Security Sciences, and took part in the Club d'Intelligence Économique Normand — a body run jointly by the French Gendarmerie and the Chamber of Commerce, where worlds one rarely imagines together used to meet.
